Maggie, our English Springer Spaniel, had spent the night at the animal emergency hospital in Des Moines and her prognosis, given her lack of red blood cells and platelets, was dire. Due to the efforts of the ISU team, Maggie returned home after 11 days in the intensive care unit, having survived to the amazement of virtually everyone.

Today, Maggie is happy and healthy. While she lost her "spring" after her lengthy illness, doesn't chase ground squirrels and deer with her prior speed (though she still gives them a chase), otherwise, she is unchanged from before her illness. She is affectionate, sweet, and a big tease, not only with us but with Bailey, her brother adopted from the Animal Rescue League. A day does not go by that Maggie doesn't bring a smile to our faces and hearts.

We support the Companion Animal Fund with the hope that in some small way it will allow for another Maggie to benefit the way our Maggie has.
