(Donations, Contributors, Limitations, In Memoriam)

  • The hotline is staffed primarily by current Iowa State University veterinary students and local volunteers.
  • All members of the staff have received training designed to help them better understand your feelings and concerns. We are here to listen and will assist you during are this difficult time.
  • If you are anticipating the loss of an animal friend, hotline volunteers are available to discuss the decisions and options that you may be facing.
  • The Pet Loss Support Hotline maintains literature dealing with the loss of a pet. If you would like, the staff would be happy to send a support package to your address.
  • We will do our best to locate additional support services in your geographical location.

Donations:
The ISU Pet Loss Support Hotline is a non-profit organization. We would greatly appreciate any donations in honor of a beloved animal friend to help us continue to provide a source of emotional support for those in need. To recognize your gift to this organization, your name and the name of your pet will be placed below. Veterinarians are encouraged to send donations in memory of a client's deceased pet. A letter will be sent acknowledging your contribution to the program and sympathetic thoughts on behalf of a beloved family pet. A special site on our web page will also reflect this contribution (if desired). Please contact us for donation forms. Please send your Pet Loss Support Hotline donations to the following address:

In Memoriam

The Pet Loss Support Line at ISU is dedicated to the memory of Krista Rankin, class of 1998. Krista was a compassionate person by nature and was very interested in this project. As the IAMS Student Representative, Krista helped to secure the funding for the hotline. At right is a picture of Krista with her horse, Shione.
