- Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine had a significant impact at the Annual American College of Veterinary Pathologists/American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ACVP/ASVCP) meeting in December 2006, with faculty, staff, and graduate students attending. Dr. Mark Ackermann chaired a session on innate immunity, co-chaired sessions, and had an invited presentation. Dr. Amanda Fales-Williams had platform and invited presentations in learning and teaching, assessment, and virtual slide
use. Dr. Claire Andreasen had invited and platform presentations on work-life balance, and pathology diagnostics and research. Several posters were presented by graduate students, including Drs. Alicia Olivier, Charles Johnson, Tatjana Lazic, Brandon Plattner, and Katherine Gibson-Corley. Dr. Katherine Gibson-Corley won first place in the Young Investigator Award, Infectious Diseases. Dr. Shannon Hostetter received the 2006 C.L. Davis Award in Pathology given to a resident/graduate student who has displayed superior scholarship, leadership, research, and diagnostic skills that will be seeking ACVP certification. Dr. Alicia Olivier is receiving a 3 year scholarship, major professor Dr. Mark Ackermann, from ACVP and Society of Toxicologic Pathology based on scholarship and the residency/PhD training program.
