Dr. Davis' areas of interest and expertise include bioterrorism and
agroterrorism education and awareness, dog bite injury prevention and
awareness, zoonotic disease education, emerging zoonoses, zoonoses and
immunocompromised people, emergency response to national public health
emergencies, and increasing the numbers of veterinarians in public health.

Dr. Davis has published on topics of emerging zoonoses, bioterrorism,
and agroterrorism. In 2002, Dr. Davis was named Assistant Director of the
Center for Food Security and Public Health (CFSPH). Some of his activities
within the CFSPH have included: helping establish a MPH training program
for veterinarians and veterinary students at ISU in conjunction with
University of Iowa; and development of a national train-the-trainer
program for veterinarians, including developing extensive training
materials. Dr. Davis is recognized nationally as an expert in
agroterrorism and lectures around the country on this topic regularly.
Materials developed by Dr. Davis on bioterrorism are in use by many state
health departments and departments of agriculture, as well as some federal
agencies.
Dr. Davis has served as a temporary advisor to the World Health
Organization in Mongolia in 1999 on the public health aspects of
brucellosis.
